Challenge

twistr is an award-winning smart search engine that uses a unique proprietary algorithm to find the cheapest flight tickets available, regardless of a user’s language, location or browsing habits. 

twistr hired Blue Hat ahead of the app’s official launch wanting to create brand awareness that would do two main things:

-Inform users that they could be paying too much for flights ticket due to “price discrimination”; where prices are based on their online activities

-Encourage them to download and use twistr to search for flights, as it is the only solution to fight price discrimination and showcase the cheapest price out there

As twistr approached us in the early stages of its launch, they had not yet identified the specific target audience that would benefit the most from the app. We were tasked with creating a series of video ads that would help explain the brand’s services in an easily digestible manner to a variety of target audiences and ultimately contribute to lead generation.

Intervention

We began the journey with twistr by identifying different sets of travellers who would find value in the service’s unique offerings.  Unlike other price comparison websites, twistr does not use cookies or personal data to create personalized flight prices, guaranteeing customers the best price available, regardless of their online profile. 

Together with twistr‘s team, we identified two principal target audience categories: those who were aware of price discrimination but may not have known that a solution existed; and those who were not aware of price discrimination at all.

Based on these categories, we created a selection of human-centric animated videos with a consistent and appealing look-and-feel that would strike a chord with the different target audiences; ranging from frequent flyers and business travelers, to solo adventurers and long-distance couples.  

Results

In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has seen flights cancelled and airports closed, we were determined to ensure twistr still created value. 

Thousands of travelers around the world suddenly found themselves stuck in foreign countries without a clear route home. Therefore, we created a Covid-19 map that helped them navigate sudden travel restrictions and show them possible flight routes open to them based on their nationality and conditions at both their current location and destination.
